...WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!
Awesome fun panels on Friday, Kaya concert Saturday, AMVs on Sunday, just........awesome.
Ridiculously long recap coming up here.
On Friday, I picked up some...interesting information at a Cosplay panel. Apparantly, my best friends are Home Depot and sex shops. It was an animated panel. I also got a reeeeaaaally cute dress in the dealers room. I'm in love with it
I also tasted Milk Pocky for the first time...It is now my favorite
And then my friend showed me One Piece opening 12, and it's just...no.
Saturday
After waking up and getting into our cosplay, we looked around artists alley and the merchants room some more, then went to a photoshoot (one piece). There was a Law...with a BEPO!!!!! We were all like WOAH, AWESOMENESS!!!! And then, there was a Chopper, but not like a person with overalls on, no, this was a girl in a full out Mascot suit. And she worked it, man! Apparently she (or her friend?) makes mascots and such for a living, and this was just a random reindeer for the holidays that she borrowed. It was epic, because...it just was. AND THEN....a Mr. 2 Bon Clay, tutu version. Best cosplay ever? Maybe... Then, all the One Piecers took over McDonalds.
Me and my friend then went to see Letter Bee, subbed. It was okay, it's just like the manga; beautiful artwork, possibility for a great story, very original, but it moves sooooo sloooow. We then hung out for a little while before going to see the One Piece Podcast panel. Those dudes were awesome. We talked continuity issues, Strong World, and one of the guy's man crush on J Michal Tatum. He's the voice actor for Eneru and others. Aparently, he did a voice intro thing in the voice of Eneru for the Podcast. He went "This is Eneru, and you are listening to the One Piece Podcast." and then, he topped it off with a laugh. And not just 'tehe' but the full out, guttural belly laugh that Eneru does, INCLUDING the Y. "YEAWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" On the tape this was on, there is about a half second of silence, and then the podcast guy goes "Holy f**k dude, you did the laugh! YOU DID THE LAUGH!" So funny. We also talked about how much Opening 12 sucks, and how it should be changed, which led into the contest the podcast is holding to make a better opening. We then hung out in Webcomics alley for a while, then went home and had dinner for about an hour before going to get in line for the Kaya concert.
OMG, the concert was epicness on a stage. Kaya is such a good performer. He can sing, dance, and pull it off in a dress. And he doesn't just sing and dance, he puts EVERYTHING into it. Even in the middle of a crowd, you could see the emotions on his face. I am now a Kaya fan, can you tell? I didn't even know who he was a week ago. Me and my friend got autographs on Friday, it was so cool. And the choreography was so good, Yui did a great job with it. It is so good to see something where there aren't back up dancers, there is just a set of performers whose role in the group is to dance. And you could tell how hard they were working-they would do the thing where you reach down and then flip your hair over your head as you pop up, and sweat would fly off their faces. Gross, yes, but awesome. In between songs, when Kaya would talk a bit, it was all Japanese, and all I understood was 'kawaii'. But I wasn't the only one, Kaya would talk for like a minute in Japanese, pause for a dead beat, then stage whisper 'Nod your head' in a really thick accent. And he pointed out people's costumes in the audience, it shows he was paying really good attention. And the costumes are amazing. He did the Ophelia dress, the kimono, and then he dressed up as a guy, with this jacket thing that looked so cool. It was epic. I'm so glad i went, even though the line was super long, my feet were killing me from my cosplay earlier, and I was short, so I was on my toes, jumping, and craning my neck. Two words: worth it.
Sunday
Just a chill day today. Got up, put on my new dress, and went to the con again. We saw some of the AMV contest recap, and there was one that could have been really good, because the footage was well strung and it could have been a good song choice. They did Mad World, but they had a horrid pop mix to it, it just killed it. The original would have worked perfectly...We also saw some Soul Eater cosplayers, and there were 2 Black Stars, 2 Death the Kids, 2 Medusas, and 2 Spirits, one Stein, one Soul, and one Marie. No one else, though. Twas strange, so see that cast and no Makas, Tsubakis, Lizes, Patties, or ANYONE else, villian or hero wise. We then hit the Merchants room again, catching the last day deals, and then went to artist alley again. So much fun, I commisioned some stationary from Soul Eater, it should be sooooo cute. I also finally found the friends who I missed on Saturday, who were apparantly there but across the con from me at all times.
Just overall...AWESOME!!!!!
